LODGING

BODEGAS

  • Ruca Malen - make a point to dine at this restaurant as well. The chef gave our bodega tour and they were booked all week for lunch
  • Lagarde - great local spot with many different varieties - young staff gave great local restaurant recs.
  • Achaval Ferrer - very high end bodega winning many awards. This is a joint venture between 2 business men and 1 grower.
  • Carmelo Patti - a charming tour given only by Mr. Patti in espanol. Well worth it, particulary his description of the cork's importance.
  • Carlos Pulenta /Vistalaba - a great scenic spot with a small lodging option. The caves below are really neat and this is an outstanding spot to stop for lunch.

  • Weinert -make sure to try the apple cider!
  • Carinae - French family with a cool story

  • Alta Vista - one of the larger producers in the area but well worth the tour.
  • Nieto Sentiner - possibly the best tasting ambiance we've come across. Excellent tour/guides.
  • Domain St. Diego - small family run outfit with not much production. Spend sime time to picnic here.
  • Taupas Distillery - only distillery in the area - try the caramel flavor!
  • Hacienda del Plata - make sure to eat lunch here!
  • The Vines of Menoza - located in Mendoza is a great spot for arranging tours and buying wine. It is very close to the Park Hyatt.
